What looked like a surprise according to Mulindwa’s statement after the voting was that none of the CECAFA Big members was appointed at the assembly a move he described as a blow to the region’s football development.

Meanwhile two FIFA Presidency aspirants in Jerome Schampaign and Prince Bin of Jordan attended the CECAFA General assembly.

Mauritania Cup Final Sees Premature Penalty Shootouts

Mauritania’s football federation has denied that President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz ordered, out of boredom, early penalty shoot-outs in a soccer match.

mouritania

A Tuesday statement by the federation said President Abdel Aziz was not to blame for the 63rd-minute stop of the Super Cup final between FC Tevragh-Zeina and ACS Ksar last weekend, saying early penalties was announced “due to organizational issues.”

There have been reports suggesting that Abdel Aziz, who was in attendance to watch the final match, abruptly called to halt the game with the score level at 1-1, before the referee signaled for early penalty shoot-outs.

The move, which apparently caused astonishment to the rest of the crowd in the stadium, came after the president reportedly became impatient with the slow tempo of the match.

Many who blame the president for the incident have expressed outrage at the decision, arguing that Abdel Aziz could wait for the end of the second half and the potential extra time to see the actual winner of the match.

Tevragh-Zeina eventually won the match but ACS Ksar fans have called for a replay.

Ahmed Ould Abderrahmane, the president of the Mauritanian football federation, said officials from the two teams had agreed on early shoot-outs.

Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of murder after a South African appeals court overturned an earlier manslaughter verdict.

pisto

Pistorius killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013 after shooting four times through a locked toilet door.

He is currently under house arrest after spending one year of his original five-year sentence in jail.

Pistorius will have to return to court to be re-sentenced, for murder.

It was earlier incorrectly reported that the court had ruled the manslaughter verdict would remain.

South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that the lower court did not correctly apply the rule of dolus eventualis – whether Pistorius knew that a death would be a likely result of his actions.

The minimum sentence for murder in South Africa is 15 years, but judges can apply some discretion.

South African law does not make provision for someone to be placed under house arrest for more than five years, so Pistorius will be going back to prison, reports the BBC’s Pumza Fihlani in Johannesburg.

CRISTIANO RONALDO is in a gay relationship with a hunky Moroccan kickboxer, it has been sensationally claimed.

gay

It is alleged the Real Madrid star, 30, regularly jets to Morocco after training for ‘cuddles’ with friend Badr Hari.

According to Spanish press, the Portuguese forward has frequently been flying to North Africa after training sessions on his £14million private jet to spend time with Hari, 30.

And Daniel Riolo — a contributor on French television show ‘Touche pas a mon sport’ — hinted that pair were more than just friends.

The studio audience was heard gasping when Riolo said: “Ronaldo takes three or four jets a week to see a friend in Morocco to cuddle.”

It was also claimed that Ronaldo has had cosmetic surgery on his nose.

The daily sports chat-show, presented by Estelle Denis, has an audience of up to 400,000.

The three-time Ballon d’Or winner — who has been linked with a mega-money return to Manchester United — recently shared a series of photos on a holiday he took with Hari.

He was pictured lifted in Hari’s arms with the caption “Just married. Always there to pick you up, bro”.

Other snaps of the trip included a candle-lit image of a traditional Moroccan meal, as well as a picture of the pair captioned post “wedding”.

The unfounded claims were made despite Ronaldo being linked with a number of beauties throughout his career.

Ronaldo famously had a five-year relationship with Russian beauty Irina Shayk but the pair split after he admitted to sending various flirty messages to women across the globe.

The former Old Trafford hero has since had flings with models Alessia Tedeschi and Maja Darving.

Ronnie most recently been linked to the beautiful Marisa Mendes, daughter of super-agent Jorge.

And he recently admitted on the Jonathan Ross Show that he currently has “a few” special women in his life.

Ronaldo’s love of fashion, accessories and grooming has led people to question his sexuality in the past – and he has been voted a gay icon by several publications.

But the 500-goal striker has previously shrugged off any speculation, saying: “I’m at ease with my sexuality so it’s not a problem for me.”

Back in 2010, he also praised Portugal’s decision to allow gay marriage.

He said: “As I am Portuguese, I try to keep myself informed about what is happening in my country.

“We must respect the choices of each other, because, after all, all citizens should have the same rights and responsibilities.”

SunSport has tried to contact Cristiano Ronaldo’s representatives but have yet to receive comment.
