The latest development has been confirmed by the club chairman Mr. Julius Raymond Kabugo with the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).

“It is now official the club will be called Kampala Capital City Authority FC or KCCA FC, it was part of the new developments that were planned for the club,” Kabugo said.

KCCA was established in 2010 under an Act of parliament as a corporate governing body and the club being under the umbrella of the body it had to change its name in line with their stake holders (KCCA).

KCCA under Director Ms Jennifer Musisi a few months back issued a budget worth Shs1.8billion meant to run the club in the 2015/2016 Azam Uganda Premier League

The upgrade which is part of the FIFA challenger extended to its less privileged member associations begun at the Phillip Omondi stadium on Monday after the club had cleared a tax of Shs230m to Uganda Revenue Authority.

During the ceremony, KCCA Executive director, Mrs. Jennifer Musisi hinted at fixing floodlights into the 10000 capacity stadium, a project that will allow the Lugogo based side host matches at night.

“We have drawn a complementary budget that will put in place floodlights at the stadium so that we can host some games at night,” Musisi stated.

FUFA President, Moses Magogo who presided over the ceremony thanked the management of the club for being co-operative to the development project.

“We as FUFA applied for the project and FIFA granted us the opportunity, we thank KCCA FC for accepting the artificial turf project and for being co-operative,” Magogo remarked.

Shs2.5billion ($ 57,555) has been unleashed as the total cost for the artificial turf with a surplus fund to cater for additional costs.

The project is being handled by Dutch company, Edel Contractors and is expected to take close to    3- 4 months.

KCCA FC will then relocate to Nakivuubo stadium for home matches while the training sessions will be conducted at the Legends rugby grounds.

A team of eleven Ugandan athletes has been flagged off to the IAAF World athletics championships that will be held in Beijing, China.

Kipro1

National council of sports general secretary Jasper Aligawesa flagged off the team that is captained by Moscow IAAF marathon and Olympic Marathon gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich.

During the flag-off, Aligawesa asked the athletes to make sure that they raise the Ugandan flag high at the championship.  .

“We are so proud that youre representatives of Uganda in China, try your efforts to see that you are not mere representatives but athletes who are going to fight for our pride and in this we expect a lot in you and we wish you the best,” said Aligawesa.

Being the only lady on the team Juliet Chekwel was named the assistant captain of the team and has promised to perform to the expectation during the championships which start on 22nd August.

The marathon (IAAF) defending champion Stephen Kiprotich is expected to have an impressive performance since he has been training well.

“I know it is going to be the toughest World Championship because you expect many big names in such events but I think I have prepared to my best and I promise to put up a good show,” Kiprotich said.

Kiprotich will compete in the marathon alongside a duo of other Ugandans Abraham Kiplimo and Jackson Kiprop, who were part of Team Uganda at the previous World Championships.

The IAAF World Championship starts this Saturday 22nd August 2015.

Uganda team: Stephen Kiprotich, Abraham Kiplimo, Solomon Mutai and Jackson Kiprop (marathon), Joshua Cheptegei, Timothy Toroitich and Moses Kibet (10000m), Philip Kipyeko (5000m), Benjamin Kiplagat (3000mSC), Ronald Musagala (1500m) and Juliet Chekwel, the only female competing in the 10000m.

World Championships 2015: Kenyans fail Beijing drugs tests

Two Kenyan runners have been suspended after testing positive for doping at the World Championships in Beijing, the International Association of Athletics Federations has announced.

Zakary, 29, set a national record in the heats on Monday
Zakary, 29, set a national record in the heats on Monday

Joyce Zakary, 29, and Koki Manunga, 21, have accepted provisional bans after “targeted tests” by the governing body.

The pair, who competed in the 400m and 400m hurdles, were tested at their team hotel on 20 and 21 August.

Zakary set a national record of 50.71 seconds in the 400m heats on Monday.

However, Zakary did not start in her scheduled semi-final on Tuesday.

Manunga finished sixth in her heat of the 400m hurdles after recording a time of 58.96.

“Athletics Kenya (AK) has already met with the IAAF and the athletes involved, and has begun investigating the situation which led to these results,” said the national governing body. “Follow-up action will be taken in Kenya.”

Earlier this month, the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) announced it would begin an “urgent” investigation into allegations of widespread doping in athletics.

The Sunday Times published data from 5,000 athletes, which it says reveals an “extraordinary extent of cheating”.

BBC athletics commentator Steve Cram said the suspensions of Manunga and Zakary are a “double-edged sword” for the sport.

“It is disappointing that people are still trying to cheat but it is great that we’re catching them,” said the 54-year-old former world, Commonwealth and European 1500m champion.

“It is not good for the Kenyan team because leading into these championships there were a lot of allegations in the situation around blood doping – and a lot of fingers pointed at Kenya.”

The IAAF said that, according to rules, it is only able to make a public disclosure once the provisional suspension is in place, adding: “The IAAF will not discuss the details of the cases as they progress through the results management process.”

SC Villa 1-1 URA, The Saints FC 0-1 KCCA FC

Sixteen time Uganda Premier League record holders, SC Villa earned their first point of the season following a 1 all draw score with Taxmen, URA FC at Nakivubo stadium on Friday.

villa ura

New signing, Robert Achema sent the Jogoos into the lead before Yayo Lutimba ground thunderbolt canceled the Villa’s lead in a fully crowded attended match.

The Nakivubo based outfits started on high with numerical attempts forcing the taxmen seat back and resort to a counter attack football.

Villa’s dominance sparked off an influx of set pieces specifically outside URA FC’s 18 yards box but were all blown.

The first 20 minutes of the game saw goalkeeper Brian Bete a former at SC Villa player much busier than any other player.

SC Villa’s lead did not last for long as Yayo Lutimba’s thunderbolt left goalie, Steven Odong helpless with six minutes after the Jogoo’s lead.

Not until the break, there were decimal chances created though at this time, the taxmen had looked a better side to double the score.

The second half resumed with URA FC boss, Moses Basena making an immediate change, replacing midfielder Saidi Kyeyune with Patrick Ochan.

For Antonnio Flores, he decided to introduce striker Umar Kasumba in for John Adriko in search for a second goal

The dying minutes saw winger Godfrey Lwesibawa replaced with Ambrose Kirya and Tadeo Lwanga paving way for Isaac Muleme at the Villa side while young starlet Shafik Kagimu came on pitch for Peter Lwasa at the URA camp.

Interestingly from the 70th minutes on ward every camp launched numerical attempts at either side but the hosts had an edge to break the jinx.

Umar Kasumba appeared in the spotlight after missing a clear chance to head the Jogoos to their first ever win of the season but surprising the ball went over the bar.

In the 74th minute, Ambrose Kirya had a point to prove but his long range shot went over the bar.

For URA, Frank Kalanda Machette had a golden opportunity to call it a day but his fired in shot was forced to deflect off the goal line by Villa captain and a former taxmen employee, Jonathan Mugabi Dante.

Villa could have gone with the three points had Robert Anchema’s 88th minute shot within URA’s box found its way into the net but thanks to goalie Brian Bwete who punched it off to force a corner kick.

The result therefore pushed URA to four points while SC Villa last season’s runners up are tied on a single point out of their two matches played.

Elsewhere, the other day’s match saw KCCA FC edging new comers, The Saints 1-0 courtesy of Sulaiman Akimenyi a Nigerian born striker and their win sent them on top of the logo with seven points.

David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid Collapses

David De Gea’s £29m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid has collapsed because the necessary paperwork was not submitted in time.

move collapses

No official announcement has yet been made by either club.

As part of the deal to sell De Gea to Real, United were planning to bring Keylor Navas in the opposite direction.

There is no precedent for Spanish clubs being given additional time to conclude transfers as there is in England.

Blame for the failure to complete the deal is already being apportioned

eports in Spain indicated the documents did not reach the Spanish league office until 28 minutes after the deadline.

Manchester United have told Sky Sports News HQ that they signed and sent all relevant documentation on time and that they have the evidence to prove it.

Real Madrid and United may consider an appeal over the likely cause of the delay, which may include a computer glitch, but there have never been any successful appeals regarding late transfers in the league’s history.

In February this year, Levante lost an attempt to overturn a ruling that cancelled their loan bid for Fulham’s Bryan Ruiz because they had missed the deadline for submission.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told Sky Sports News HQ: “La Liga has confirmed that the documents have not reached them on time and, as it stands, the transfer is not going to take place.

Keylor Navas was set to move to Manchester United as part of the deal
Keylor Navas was set to move to Manchester United as part of the deal

“Everything was done and everyone was waiting. David de Gea was at his girlfriend’s house in Madrid, [Real Madrid president] Florentino Perez was at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Navas was there too and was waiting to pass a medical, and everything was signed and sent to Manchester.

“But the information is that the documentation didn’t come back from Manchester United on time.

“Reports say the Navas paperwork came in at one minute past midnight in Spain and therefore did not reach La Liga on time, so the transfer is not going to happen.

“There is no precedent for this. Three years ago Fabio Coentrao could not go to Manchester United for the exact same reason, and Real asked the league if they could have five more minutes, and the league said ‘no’.

“Nobody expects an extension, so everyone is reporting that the deal has not gone through.”
